Overview

The Colosseum is a massive amphitheater in the centre of Rome built during the Roman Empire. Completed in 80 AD, it could hold thousands of spectators and was used for gladiator contests, public spectacles, and theatrical performances.

Constructed from stone and concrete, the Colosseum is an engineering marvel and one of the most recognizable symbols of ancient Rome.

Despite damage from earthquakes and stone removal over centuries, it still represents Roman architecture, entertainment, and imperial power.
